These Terms of Service govern your use of the Rugged Layer Lab website and your purchase of products or services from Rugged Layer Lab.
By visiting our website, placing an order, submitting a custom order request, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. BUSINESS INFORMATION
Rugged Layer Lab operates from Wisconsin, United States.
Throughout these Terms, the words “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Rugged Layer Lab.
The words “you” and “customer” refer to any person who visits our website, purchases a product, submits a custom order, or otherwise uses our services.
2. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
Rugged Layer Lab sells 3D-printed products, custom-made products, accessories, and other merchandise.
Many of our products are manufactured using additive manufacturing and may be produced after an order is placed.
We make reasonable efforts to accurately display product descriptions, dimensions, colors, photographs, materials, and other information. However, actual products may vary slightly from photographs or digital representations.
Minor characteristics associated with the 3D-printing process, including visible layer lines, seams, slight surface variations, minor dimensional differences, and small color variations, are normal and are not necessarily considered defects.
3. CUSTOM AND MADE-TO-ORDER PRODUCTS
Custom, personalized, and made-to-order products are manufactured according to information provided or approved by the customer.
Customers are responsible for verifying all measurements, dimensions, sizes, colors, materials, files, designs, specifications, spelling, personalization details, and other information before production begins.
Rugged Layer Lab is not responsible for fit, sizing, compatibility, or dimensional problems caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer.
This includes, but is not limited to, cosplay items, wearable products, replacement parts, custom-fit components, mounts, adapters, and products manufactured to customer-supplied dimensions.
Once production of a custom or personalized item has begun, changes may not be possible and may result in additional charges.
Custom, personalized, and made-to-order products are final sale except where otherwise required by law or where Rugged Layer Lab determines that the product contains a verified manufacturing defect or does not materially match the agreed specifications.
4. CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED FILES AND DESIGNS
When submitting an STL, 3MF, STEP, image, design, logo, artwork, or other file to Rugged Layer Lab, you represent that you have the necessary rights and permission to use and reproduce that material.
You are responsible for ensuring that any file or design you submit does not violate another person's copyright, trademark, patent, privacy rights, or other intellectual property rights.
Rugged Layer Lab may refuse any project that we believe may violate applicable law, intellectual property rights, safety requirements, or our business policies.
Unless specifically agreed otherwise, purchasing a physical product from Rugged Layer Lab does not transfer ownership of any design files, CAD files, models, production files, or other intellectual property owned by Rugged Layer Lab or a third-party designer.
5. ORDER ACCEPTANCE
Submitting an order does not guarantee acceptance.
Rugged Layer Lab reserves the right to refuse, cancel, or limit an order when reasonably necessary, including in cases involving:
Incorrect pricing or product information;
Suspected fraud;
Inventory or material shortages;
Production limitations;
Technical errors;
Unsafe or unlawful requests;
Intellectual property concerns; or
Other circumstances that prevent us from reasonably fulfilling the order.
If we cancel an order after payment has been collected and production has not been completed, any amount owed to the customer will be refunded as appropriate.
6. PRICING AND PAYMENT
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated.
Prices may change without notice.
The price charged will generally be the price displayed or otherwise agreed to at the time the order is placed.
Customers are responsible for applicable taxes, shipping charges, customs duties, import charges, and other fees when applicable.
Payment must be successfully completed before an order is processed unless Rugged Layer Lab has agreed to different payment arrangements.
7. ORDER CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS
Requests to change or cancel an order should be submitted as soon as possible.
We cannot guarantee that an order can be changed or canceled once production has begun.
Custom, personalized, or made-to-order products may not be cancelable after materials have been used or production has started.
If additional work, materials, redesign, or production is required because of a customer-requested change, additional charges may apply.
8. SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
Orders are subject to the Rugged Layer Lab Shipping Policy.
Production and delivery dates are estimates unless Rugged Layer Lab specifically agrees in writing to a guaranteed deadline.
Rugged Layer Lab is not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers, weather, customs, holidays, service disruptions, incorrect customer addresses, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.
9. RETURNS, REFUNDS, AND REPLACEMENTS
Returns, refunds, exchanges, replacements, and damaged-product claims are governed by the Rugged Layer Lab Refund Policy.
Custom, personalized, and made-to-order products are generally final sale.
If an item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from the specifications Rugged Layer Lab agreed to produce, the customer should contact Rugged Layer Lab within the timeframe stated in our Refund Policy.
Depending on the circumstances, Rugged Layer Lab may provide a repair, replacement, partial refund, full refund, or another appropriate resolution.
10. PRODUCT USE AND SAFETY
Customers are responsible for determining whether a product is appropriate for their intended application.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, Rugged Layer Lab products should not be assumed to be certified for safety-critical, medical, structural, aerospace, automotive safety, life-support, emergency, or other applications where failure could result in serious injury, death, or significant property damage.
3D-printed materials can be affected by temperature, ultraviolet exposure, chemicals, mechanical stress, impact, moisture, and other environmental conditions.
Customers should inspect products before use and discontinue use if a product becomes damaged, cracked, excessively worn, deformed, or otherwise unsafe.
11. COMPATIBILITY
Any reference to another manufacturer's brand, model, tool, device, product, or equipment is generally provided to describe compatibility or intended use.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, Rugged Layer Lab is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or authorized by those third-party manufacturers.
Customers are responsible for confirming compatibility before purchasing when compatibility depends on a specific model, generation, size, or configuration.
12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The Rugged Layer Lab name, branding, website content, original photographs, graphics, text, product designs, and other original materials may be protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, modify, or commercially use Rugged Layer Lab intellectual property without permission.
Third-party trademarks, product names, logos, and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.
13. WEBSITE USE
You may not use our website or services for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, harmful, or unauthorized purposes.
You may not attempt to interfere with the operation or security of our website, access systems without authorization, introduce malicious code, scrape protected information in violation of applicable law, or misuse our services.
14. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND LINKS
Our website may contain links to or integrations with third-party services, including payment processors, shipping carriers, marketplaces, review services, and social media platforms.
Rugged Layer Lab is not responsible for the content, availability, privacy practices, or operation of independent third-party websites or services.
Your use of third-party services may also be governed by their own terms and policies.
15. ERRORS AND INACCURACIES
Occasionally, our website may contain typographical errors, incorrect pricing, inaccurate descriptions, availability errors, or other mistakes.
We reserve the right to correct errors and update information when reasonably necessary.
If an error materially affects an order that has already been placed, we will attempt to contact the customer and provide an appropriate resolution.
16. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Rugged Layer Lab will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use or inability to use our website, products, or services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
17. WARRANTIES
Except for any express warranties specifically provided with a product and any warranties that cannot legally be excluded, products and services are provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis.
We do not guarantee that every product will be suitable for every possible application or environment.
18. PRIVACY
Your use of our website and services is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
By using our services, you acknowledge that information may be processed as described in that policy.
19. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
Rugged Layer Lab may update these Terms of Service from time to time.
Changes will become effective when the updated Terms are posted on our website unless otherwise required by law.
The version in effect when an order is placed will generally apply to that order.
20. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the State of Wisconsin and the United States, except where applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
21. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.
